With this in mind, we are bringing together all stakeholders who wish to contribute to our congress.

Combating climate change requires not only the active participation of institutions but also that of individuals. We have created a three-phase volunteer program for the 11th Urban Studies Congress. Let’s work together to bring these volunteer activities to life—before, during, and after the congress… Let’s start with ourselves and foster a deep awareness of climate issues across all layers of society… Let’s make everything that can be done for our future a priority on the public agenda.
1. Climate Volunteers (Pre-Congress)
The pre-congress volunteer process is not merely a period of support for the preparatory phase; it is designed as a dynamic workspace where volunteers directly contribute to knowledge production. Within this framework, volunteers will be able to contribute at various levels to the work being carried out under the congress’s main theme, “Climate-Resilient Cities,” including:
- Project proposals,
- Policy brief preparation,
- Evaluation analyses,
- Contributing to the congress’s announcements via social media,
- Blog posts on the congress website.

Through these multifaceted areas of contribution, volunteers will become active stakeholders in the process—not merely supporters, but knowledge producers, content developers, and contributors to expanding the conference’s impact.
2. Conference Volunteers (Event Process)
Volunteering during the conference plays a critical role in ensuring the conference runs smoothly and in a coordinated manner. In this context, volunteers will:
- Greet and guide participants,
- Support the timely and orderly progression of sessions,
- Ensure venue and technical coordination
- Taking notes during sessions and preparing for the subsequent final report,
- Promoting in-person and online sessions via social media,
- Serving as session assistants for online sessions,
- Engaging online participants in the process,
- Monitoring live streams and managing digital communication processes are also key areas where volunteers contribute.
In this process, volunteers will not only gain experience in organizing an international event and have the opportunity to interact with participants from various disciplines but will also be rewarded with a Climate-Friendly Certificate.
3. Post-Congress Volunteering (Impact and Dissemination Process)
The post-conference volunteering process aims to ensure that the knowledge, principles, and recommendations presented at the 11th Urban Studies Congress are institutionalized and find resonance at the societal level. In this phase, volunteers will be actively involved as stakeholders who contribute not only to documenting the conference’s outcomes but also to their dissemination and the generation of practical impact.
In this context, volunteers will:
- Contribute to the publication of studies prepared within the framework of the climate change theme and to content production processes,
- Support the dissemination of conference outcomes through reports, policy briefs, and digital content,
- Contribute to awareness-raising efforts aimed at making the principles and recommendations in the conference’s final declaration visible across various platforms and ensuring their implementation,
- Support the maintenance and strengthening of relationships established between academia, local governments, and civil society,
- Play a role in events and presentation processes aimed at sharing the knowledge and experience generated across different cities and institutions.
This process aims to extend the conference’s impact beyond the boundaries of time and space, creating a sustainable foundation of knowledge and awareness regarding the fight against climate change.
